About Showcase
Staged like a summer fair, Boston Community Showcase features live local entertainment – and has proven a very popular family fun day out.
Read on to find out how the Showcase was born…
In April 2005, community and voluntary groups in the Boston area recognised the growing cultural diversity in and around the town – enter the Boston Community Showcase! The essential organisation was done by three local key community groups: the Boston Mayflower Housing Association, South Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service and Boston Borough Council. Now the partnership is made of key community groups and non-profit organisations (see partners page).
In planning the event the Boston Community Showcase Partnership wanted to:
- Give people the chance to represent their services and inform others
- Engage with the community – as well as targeting migrant workers/hard to reach groups
- Give Boston a unique opportunity to celebrate and highlight services in the area
Boston Community Showcase does what it says – showcases activities and achievements of local people and groups. The event’s increasing success means it is still held in September every year. It is a unique project which has established itself as a vital community event thanks to the partnership working involving many local groups.
Showcase started with 40 local organisations involved in the first event – now we work with well over 100 organisations. The event is growing every year, in attendance and scope. What we have developed is not just unique, but is at the spearhead of good practice in social cohesion nationally!
